The Great Sierra River Cleanup is an annual event coordinated by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy every year on the third Saturday of September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in conjunction with the California Coastal Cleanup Day. The Great Sierra River Clean-Up is about much more than picking up trash, however. It’s a day for Sierra communities – and those from all over California – to demonstrate their desire for clean water and healthy rivers. It’s an opportunity to learn about Sierra rivers and it’s a time to come together with your children, your families, your neighbors, and your friends to accomplish something vital and worthy on behalf of our great Sierra rivers. Participating in The Great Sierra River Cleanup 2009 is easy! Look at this list and find a Cleanup near you. You can pre-register with your local coordinator, or by contacting any board member of Sac-Sierra Trout Unlimited. If you don’t see a Cleanup near you and want help starting one, call an SSTU board member, or Janet at 530-265-5770 to get help and advice. |
